Hesychius (does not classify it as Macedonian) As Dosuna (2007, 2012) has pointed out, this word derives from PIE *ghebʰ(e)l- and it's first plosive is in keeping with what is expected in Greek. The second part is typical Macedonian, having a β instead of an φ. However, if Macedonian fully followed a Brygian or Thracian phonology, the expected outcome would be *γεβλή. |
